Specialists of Ulyanovsk Distribution Grids, a branch of IDGC of Volga, PJSC (a member of Rosseti Group of Companies) implemented measures to improve reliability of 110 kV two-circuit overhead power lines Syzran – Novoobraztsovaya – Klin and Syzran – Koptevka – Klin. These measures are based on the results of visual inspections and IR and UF heat monitoring. Employees of high-voltage transition line services of Yuzhnoye and Baryshskoye Production Departments replaced supports on a segment of this OHL. After dismantling, the old supports were immediately replaced for the new ones, with pre-installed cross-arm beams to support conductors. During replacement works, one segment of the line was de-energized. To provide power for consumers, standby circuits were used. To increase OHL reliability, specialists of Ulyanovsk DG replaced over 3,500 insulators, repaired support earthing loops for improved lightning-surge proofness, cleaned insulation upstream the Novoobraztsovaya-Tyagovaya substation and applied special polymer-modified cement mortar on supports to prevent ingress of moisture and to protect against temperature drops. The 110 kV Syzran – Novoobraztsovaya – Klin and Syzran – Koptevka – Klin OHLs are used to transmit electricity for southern districts of the region, including such major electricity consumers as Druzhba oil line and the railway facilities. Besides, this line connects power grids across the Ulyanovsk, Samara and Penza regions. These measures help to significantly improve operational reliability of the line, reduce irregularities and ensure fault-free power supply for customers.
