Brodosplit shipyard, Croatia, finished metal cutting and made first constructions for an Aframax-tanker ordered by PRISCO. M/t Saint Nickolay is going to become the second tanker of 100,000 tons deadweight built by this European shipyard for PRISCO. M/t Sakhalin, laid in December last year, is 85% ready, more than 4 thousand tons of metal was erected on a slip. Now the main work is being held at the afterpart, in the engine room and in the pumproom where the hull construction is the most difficult. At the same time assembling of machines and facilities is carried out. Components of the main engine are 95% ready. At present it is being assembled on the test bed. Nickolay Arkhipkin, Technical Department Director, PRISCO, informed that m/t Sakhalin of 108 thousand tons deadweight is planned for launching in September, 2003, and the tanker will be delivered in early 2004. As known, PRISCO already operates m/t Primorye, the same type tanker as the ones ordered to Brodosplit. After the winning of the tender for oil transportation which will be produced within the frameworks of the Sakhalin-1 Project, PRISCO got the opportunity to order 3 more supertankers. Ice class tankers will be built on the basis of a specially developed scheme at the Hyundai Heavy Industries shipyard, Ulsan, South Korea.
