In 2015, Saratov Distribution Grids, a branch of IDGC of Volga, PJSC (a member of Rosseti Group of Companies), implemented its repair program in full. The repair program is intended to ensure smooth-running operation of the entire power grid complex during the 2015-2016 autumn and winter season. The works were carried out in compliance with approved schedules. Repairs covered 1,172.5 km of overhead transmission lines (OHL) with voltages of 35 and 110 kV. The length of repaired 0.4-10 kV OHL is 2,455.2 km. Specialists repaired 112 substations (35 kV and above) and 1,107 transformer substations (6-10/0.4 kV). To improve reliability of power supply, specialists of the branch traditionally focus much of their efforts on vegetation management along and under overhead transmission lines and RoW extensions. In fire seasons, the safe clearance distances help reduce the risk of fire outbreaks under overhead lines, prevent burnt trees from falling onto transmission lines, and serve as a barrier in the event of an outbreak of creeping ground fires. In autumn and winter operational periods, vegetation management activities in rights-of-way prevent trees from falling onto transmission lines. The repair activities covered the area of 1,167.7 ha.
