Ulyanovsk DG specialists took part in industrial ecologists board meeting

Ecologists of the largest Ulyanovsk industrial enterprises together with representatives of the Ministry of Nature and Circular Economy, the Rosprirodnadzor Directorate, the Office of the Inter-District Environmental Prosecutor's Office discussed key issues of the region’s environmental safety and environmental conservation.

During the event, explanations were given on changes in environmental legislation, inspections by authorized executive bodies in the field of environmental protection, as well as reports on the activities of enterprises aimed at preventing environmental risks.

The branch of IDGC of Volga, PJSC (included in the Rosseti Group) - Ulyanovsk Distribution Grids has been a permanent member of the Board of Industrial Ecologists since its inception in 2014. Industrial activity of the company is carried out in strict accordance with the requirements of federal and regional legislation in the field of environmental protection.

The branch carries out regular monitoring of the efficiency of electricity-generating plants and monitoring compliance with the maximum permissible emissions. In order to assess the impact of the branch’s industrial activities on the environment, the condition of the soil located at the borders with the power grid facilities is checked. All 23 production sites comply with the standards for waste generation and limits on its disposal. The key priority in the field of environmental safety is the technical re-equipment of power facilities, designed to improve the reliability and safety of energy supply and, as a result, eliminate the negative impact on the environment due to technological disturbances.

For this purpose, the oil devices of transformers and oil-filled equipment are being repaired, the uninsulated wire is replaced with self-supporting insulated wire, the oil switches are replaced with more environmentally friendly gas-insulated ones that use a safe chemical compound that does not have a damaging effect on the ozone layer. Great importance is also attached to improving energy performance and energy saving. In this regard, a number of measures have been developed, which include not only the technical re-equipment and the introduction of innovative technologies into production processes, but also the promotion of energy conservation among the region population. Confirmation of a Ulyanovsk DG branch high level of environmental performance will be certification for compliance of the environmental management system with the international standard ISO 14001: 2016, which is planned to be completed by the end of this year.
