On April 3, 2003 the Russian Economic Forum was held in London, in which the director general of Southern Telecommunications, Vladimir Gorbachev, took part. In his presentation concerning the financial performance of Russian southern telecom operator, he touched on the main trends in development of the telecommunications industry in this area of the country. The report zeroed in on major trends in the region, foremost of which was development of new technologies.
This forum also provided an opportunity to meet with foreign investors. During the proceedings the management of Southern Telecommunications gave a fuller presentation of the company's business performance which is anticipated for the next four years. The main point driven home by this event was that the telecommunications business in southern Russia has retained its investment appeal.
