Comparative field-tests of new device - impulse photometer FI-3, entered into the Complex of airport equipment (Russian abbreviation is KAO), has finished at LOMO PLC.
FI-3 is intended for measuring of meteorological distance on the landed ground. This device differs from its successor FI-2 by significantly more perfect dimensional, weight and technical specifications and improved ergonomics. Thanks to usage of advanced electronic base the exploitation of the product has significantly simplified, and precision of measurements has raised.
The device consists of two blocks - photometrical and reflective, located at the landed ground at the significant distance from each other. The first of them sends its light impulse, which is reflected by the second block and later the impulse comes back to photometrical block. Measurement of the degree of weakening of the impulse after the passing through stratum of atmosphere allows getting necessary data.
Impulse photometers of LOMO are high precision sophisticated devices. They have to work continuously twenty-four hours in the range of temperatures from -50 till 50 degrees. Radiated light stream saves stability and not depends on humidity, pressure, sudden voltage changes and other interference.
We remind that the St. Petersburg optical firm began creating devices for KAO ten years ago, in 1993. Two years later the first device from this series - impulse photometer FI-2 successfully has passed through tests and serial production of the device began in 1996. From that time LOMO has produced more than 200 items, which operate at all large airports of CIS - from the Far North till the Black Sea resorts. Specialists of LOMO constantly conduct the modernization of the device, what allows the device to be at the advanced technical level.
Nowadays new device FI-3 changes FI-2, serial production of which will begin after getting of all necessary certificates in the end of 2003.
