At the beginning of 2009 Security and regime Department specialists of JSC «IDGC of Volga” Branch – “Chuvashenergo” together with inspectors and law-enforcement authorities’ representatives are keeping to reveal of electrical power consumption without counters and contracts. 

At present day raids were held in 6 Chuvash districts. Over 20 cases of electric power theft were revealed during the inspection. Formal notes were taken in accordance to the results of inspection. According to police representatives the criminal cases were brought against several offenders. Others will have to pay for illegall consumption of electric energy. Only in January according to the revealed cases during the inspections the amount of damage is approximately 135 thousand rubles.

In most cases unfair residents use the electric energy without counters. Moreover, every year model of illegal connection to the electrical networks becomes more and more acute. For example, in Batirevsky region one “craftsman” hid the line passing over the counter under the plaster. Only experience and vigilance of inspectors helped to bring the owner into a light. However, according to the power engineering specialists the main aim of these raids is not to catch all evil-doers at any price. The main thing is to help the people to have the sense of responsibility. Electrical power thefts yield a huge loss to the power engineering specialists. For example, because of electric energy demand without counters and contracts the total commercial negative profit of JSC «IDGC of Volga” Branch – “Chuvashenergo” is approximately 9 million 160 thousand rubles. Moreover, the unauthorized connection to the power translation lines of multiwatt electrical appliance and homemade heating devises leads to failure and violation in power supply, and often became the reason of the fire. According to the Deputy Directorof the General Director of JSC «IDGC of Volga” –Director of the branch “Chuvashenergo” Dmitry Ivanov, an active work for prevention of electric power thefts will be continued during the whole year. Similar raids would be conducted over the whole Republic.
