On Gazprom’s delegation visit to Izhora Pipe Plant

A Gazprom delegation led by Alexander Ananenkov, Deputy Chairman of the Management Committee visited today the Izhora Pipe Plant. The delegation comprised Yaroslav Golko, Member of the Management Committee, Head of the Investment and Construction Department, Igor Fyodorov, Member of the Management Committee, Director General of Gazkomplektimpex and specialists of Gazprom’s core business units.

The Gazprom delegation took part in the celebrations dedicated to the launch of large diameter pipes production intended for the Bovanenkovo – Ukhta gas trunkline construction.

Addressing the meeting, Alexander Ananenkov pointed out that Gazprom was one of the world’s largest large diameter pipe customers. At the same time, the Company is traditionally geared towards products of national companies.

“Gazprom is planning to develop a new gas production centre on the Yamal Peninsula in the harsh environmental conditions of the Far North. The Company will put extremely high demands on the equipment to be utilized during the Yamal fields development and gas transportation. This also involves large diameter pipes.

Nowadays we can see that domestic producers are capable of turning out products not only competitive on the global market, but also outdoing their foreign analogues. The Izhora Pipe Plant has mastered production of unique 1,420 mm pipes designed for a 120 Ata working pressure. They will be utilized during the Bovanenkovo – Ukhta gas trunkline construction,” underlined Alexander Ananenkov.

Reference:

In January 2002, the Gazprom Management Committee identified the Yamal Peninsula as a region of the Company’s strategic interest. Commercial development of Yamal fields will increase local gas production to 250 bcmpa. Accessing the Yamal is of utter importance for the purpose of ensuring gas production growth.

The Cenomanian-Aptian deposits of the Bovanenkovskoye field are a paramount development target on the Yamal.

Projected gas production from the Bovanenkovskoye field is identified at 115bcm/y to be increased to 140 bcm/y in the long-term. In order to deliver extracted gas to UGSS, it is necessary to construct a 2,451-km-long gas transportation system including a new 1,100-km-long gas transportation corridor from Bovanenkovo to Ukhta.

The Izhora Pipe Plant enters Severstal Group of companies. The Plant was set up to construct a large diameter pipe production facility on an industrial site in the town of Kolpino (St. Petersburg’s suburb).
