Samara Distribution Grids, a branch of IDGC of Volga, PJSC (a member of Rosseti Group), develops a package of actions to ensure stable operation of power equipment and to prevent technological disturbances during the flood period. All the measures will help cope with the flood peak without emergencies and provide reliable power supply to consumers of the Samara region. In the administrative office and in every production department of the Samara branch of IDGC of Volga, PJSC flood commissions are formed. A list of territories that can most likely get into the flooding zone is made, power line river crossings are inspected, as well as line sections prone to flooding and located in overflow and wetlands. Particular attention is paid to the state of supports foundation crowning and anchor plates of the overhead lines in the river flood plains or in the areas prone to erosion. They developed a package of activities to ensure quick delivery of special-purpose vehicles, emergency reserve equipment and materials to all sections of power transmission lines, if required. Also, the weekly and, if necessary, a 24-hour schedule of the risk areas inspections is designed and officials are appointed. Unscheduled briefings with the inclusion of the issue of providing first aid to flood victims and emergency response drills were organized with operational, repair and maintenance personnel on the action procedures in the flooding areas, including deployment of special-purpose transport vehicles and machinery. Availability of equipment, special clothing, protection devices, accessories, operating condition of machinery and communication means is also checked. Emergency reserve is prepared. Cleaning of driveways to 35-110 kV substations, functioning of drain facilities and underground utility lines of the substations have been inspected, stationary and mobile pumps, cross-country vehicles, floating crafts and other special-purpose machinery are prepared. Drainage of melt-water from buildings and underground communication with the avoidance of their flow into the cable channels, oil collectors, water supply sources is secured. The technical condition of mobile backup power supply of electric energy and its readiness for emergency transportation is checked. In addition, in order to promptly respond to possible emergency situations, Samara Distribution Grids, a branch of IDGC of Volga, PJSC, maintain a close and constructive cooperation with the government of the Samara region, district administrations, hydro-meteorological services, regional flood commissions and the EMERCOM division management. Apart from the major activities, power engineers warn the Samara region residents against flooding areas.
