24 July 2003: presentation of the regional telecommunications transport network held in the City of Vladimir

On 24 July 2003, the Vladimir Region telecom, an affiliate company of PJSC CenterTelecom, held a presentation of its regional communications transport network built and based on fiber-optic lines and SDH technology, its data transmission rate being 622 Mbit/s.

Messrs. Nikolai Vinogradov - Governor of the Vladimir Region, Ruben Amarian - General Director of PJSC CenterTelecom, Anatoliy Rogozin - General Director of PJSC "Svyazstroy-1" ("Telecommunications Construction", Eng.), managers of telecommunica-tions enterprises, as well as regional and central mass media journalists, took part in the presentation.

PJSC CenterTelecom is increasing the development and technical re-equipment rates with relation to the telecommunications networks in the constituent regions of the Central Federal District. In 2002, fiber optic transmission cable lines 2 518,9 km long were built and activated, and about 500 000 numbers at up-to-date digital telephone exchanges were put into operation.

In terms of digital networks construction rate, the Vladimir Region telecom affiliate company is in the lead. The sophisticated up-to-date technological system embracing the entire territory of the Region was built within 10 months, which is an unprecedentedly short space of time. The total extension of the fiber optic lines laid in the Region is 960 km. In big cities and administrative centers, 19 network information stream input-output nodes were constructed. Thirty-three thousand (33 000) numbers at top-notch electronic telephone exchanges were put into operation.

The transport network designed in the shape of closed fiber optic rings ensures a high rate and reliability of the data transmission. It has come to replace archaic copper cables with low traffic capacity and considerable maintenance expenditures. It cost the Vladimir Region telecommunications company, affiliate of PJSC CenterTelecom, RUR 140 million to construct the network. The implementation of such sizable project will enable to extensively use new information technologies, particularly, in the management field, production, trade and finances, and to provide a broad spectrum of infocommunications services to organizations and inhabitants.

The efficiency of interaction of the executive power bodies of th Russian Federation subject and a business entity, which is Public Joint Stock Company CenterTelecom, was specifically noted at the presentation. The creation of the up-to-date telecommunications infrastructure at such a short time was in many respects possible owing to a personal participation of the Vladimir Region Governor and the heads of the region's municipalities in the project.

The new PJSC CenterTelecom network in the Vladimir Region will become a reliable modern platform for translating the "Electronic Russia" Federal Program into reality.
