Construction of a substation for power supply to Samara Kosmos Arena stadium to start in April

Samara Distribution Grids, a branch of IDGC of Volga, PJSC (a member of Rosseti Group), is preparing for one of the biggest construction projects of the last decade. This April the company is starting construction of 110 kV Stadion substation which will be the main supplying center for future Kosmos Arena stadium with capacity of 45,000 seats and all supporting infrastructure.

The 110/10 kV Stadion substation with 2x40 MVA transformers is designed as a closed-type facility which means that all equipment is to be enclosed in one building. Such design will exclude any impact on the environment. The substation project has already passed the government inspection. The contractor to carry out the facility construction has been selected. Almost all the components of the future substation were made in Russia — they are modern, more cost-efficient than export counterparts and simpler in operation. The substation will be connected via 4 overhead power transmission lines of 110 kV. Currently the base plate for the substation is being prepared. All works are to be completed by the end of 2017.

"The previous 110 kV substation of the same closed-type was commissioned in our city in 2010," — says Konstantin Sanayev, Deputy General Director of IDGC of Volga, PJSC and the General Manager of Samara Distribution Grids. — The contractor has already started purchasing necessary equipment and in a month the site will be fenced-off and they will start removing old cables and constructing the foundation for the future Stadion substation". All works and their compliance with the schedule are controlled by the management of IDGC of Volga and the Government of Samara region.
