As part of the Electricity Metering Development Program in 2016 Penzaenergo, a branch of IDGC of Volga PJSC, is going to install 794 meters up to 0.4 kV for individual consumers and 10 meters of 6-10 kV for enterprises. Smart electricity meters for individual housings will be installed in Mokshan of Mokhsansky district, Sharov and Poima of Bashmakovsky district, Pashkov of Zemetchinsky district, Bekov and Vertunovka of Bekovsky district, Malaya Serdoba of Maloserdobisnky district, Klyuchevka and Vysheley villages of Gorodischensky district and in Nizhny Lomov.
Clients of Penzaenergo will receive new generation meters of 1.0 accuracy. They detect electricity and capacity. Such meters enable remote data reading, connection or disconnection of a client. Also, they feature a built-in rater which allows electricity metering at daytime or nighttime rates. It is known that rates variability helps consumers to save on electricity bills. Besides, in some cases smart meters may prevent fires caused by short circuits. Smart meters control energy leakages and switch off electricity when critical values are reached.
Clients of Penzaenergo will receive new meters free of charge and will not bear any service costs. Electricity meters are installed on overhead transmission line supports on the borderline between Penzaenergo equipment and client's devices. Smart meter installation also includes replacement of an existing wire between a support and a client's house for a new self-supporting insulated cable. At least 18,000 m of such cables are expected to be mounted in 2016.
The Electricity Metering Development Program has been implemented at Penzaenergo for over 5 years. Modern smart electricity meters will enable power engineers to receive accurate data on power consumption and to detect all electricity losses on particular sections of transmission lines.
