OJSC Svyazinform, Samara region entered 19,800 new lines into use in 2001.
ATE-75 in Togliatti has been expanded by 5,000 telephone lines and ATE-40/48 by 3,000 lines. Telephone installation is currently under way in the city of Neftegorska, where old coordinate-type switching facilities are being removed from the SI-2000 exchange, which has a total capacity of over 6,000 lines. In phase one of the operation 3,800 lines are to be entered into service. Existing subscribers have been switched over to a new exchange. Over 2000 subscribers are also to be switched over during 2002.
The existing telephone exchange in Oktyabrsk has been expanded, which has made it possible to commission 500 new lines.
ATE-4 in the city of Syzran has been expanded by 2,000 lines.
In Shental a coordinate-type exchange has been replaced with an SI-2000 electronic exchange, which has made it possible to add on 1,200 new lines.
In rural areas of the Samara region over 3,000 telephone lines have been entered into service as the result of ATE expansion plans.
