The companies agreed to prepare a technical study of the possibility to deepen the ship channel from the entrance of the port to the Economiya and Talagi port areas. The successful completion of this project will enable larger capacity vessels to enter the port.
In accordance with the agreement, Rosneft will be responsible for organising the refuelling of ships at the Arkhangelsk Port docks with high-quality fuel at market prices. In its turn, the Arkhangelsk Port, whose main shareholder is MMC Norilsk Nickel, will create and maintain favourable conditions for dockside refuelling.
Taking into account the national importance of the exploitation of mineral deposits in the Arctic region, MMC Norilsk Nickel and Rosneft will jointly develop a programme for the development of the Economiya port area, which will include the construction of procurement centers for exploration activities.
For the exploitation of the Vankorsk deposits being developed by Rosneft in the Yenisei region, the companies will develop a unified support system for ice-breakers facilitating the transport of cargoes in this region, incorporating the current transport infrastructure of MMC Norilsk Nickel.
The two companies will pursue a common policy regarding the efficient exploitation and continuous development of the infrastructure of the Northern Sea Route, which is of vital importance to both companies. |
