Gazprom and Wintershall Holding celebrate 20th anniversary of cooperation in personnel training and development

The Gazprom headquarters hosted a conference dedicated to the 20th anniversary of cooperation between Gazprom and Wintershall Holding GmbH in the area of personnel training and development.

Taking part in the event were heads and experts from Gazprom and its subsidiaries as well as representatives from Wintershall Holding. The companies' achievements in the sci-tech partnership promotion as well as in staff professional training and education were summarized in the speeches by Sergey Khomyakov, Deputy Chairman of the Management Committee and Elena Kasyan, Head of the Personnel Management Department on behalf of Gazprom. On behalf of Wintershall Holding GmbH speeches were delivered by Ties Tiessen, Member of the Board of Executive Directors and Axel Bode, Director of Human Resources.

“The joint programs of Gazprom and Wintershall Holding in the personnel training and development area let us know each other better and reinforce the intellectual capital of our companies. Quite often these programs are closely related to sci-tech cooperation: the results of scientific inquiry are reviewed by working groups, tested in companies and then presented at training courses enabling us to make the most of the joint projects.

Gazprom and Wintershall Holding are constantly developing new educational forms and methods: traveling seminars, teaching videoconferences and modular programs, which finally turn into an integral and popular component of our work.

I am convinced that all the future plans of Gazprom and Wintershall Holding associated with personnel development will be successfully implemented as well,” said Sergey Khomyakov in his opening speech.

“Many Russian colleagues who hold key positions in Gazprom and its subsidiary companies took part in our educational events, such as modular programs, specialized seminars or management academies. We were happy to follow their career development and, using our expertise, to support them in facing tough challenges.

More than 320 advanced training events were held over the 20 years of our companies' partnership in the personnel development area. More than 5,200 people took part in them. Today the scope of our work in this area is larger than in any other German or Russian industrial company – apart from state-supported programs. Our cooperation in the personnel training area is undoubtedly a substantial contribution to the mutual understanding between the peoples of Russia and Germany,” stated Ties Tiessen.

Background

Gazprom and Wintershall signed the Agreement of Cooperation in Gas Sector in 1990 and started negotiations on the possibility for taking joint actions in the personnel development area in 1991.

In 1994 the companies set up the Personnel Development Committee.

A total of nearly 5,300 employees passed the joint training programs over the years of partnership between Gazprom and Wintershall Holding GmbH.

Nowadays, Gazprom and Wintershall Holding cooperate in the following HR-related areas: organization of corporate governance, personnel management, economic and financial programs, practical training courses, seminars on vocational and medical disciplines.
