At the meeting, new members of the Board of Directors of Europay International were elected. For the first time since 1998 the Russian banking community came to be represented on the Board of one of the biggest international companies. Mr. Andrei I. Kazmin, Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Sberbank, was elected to the Executive Board of Europay International. The unanimous election of Mr. Kazmin reflects not only the achievements of Sberbank in promoting plastic card business in Russia, but also demonstrates the growing confidence in the Russian financial system.
