MOSENERGO (TGC-3)

April 10, 2002

AO MOSENERGO held a press-club meeting to discuss Moscow Cable Lines operations

The meeting was held on the 105th anniversary of Moscow Cable Lines (MCL), a division of AO MOSENERGO. The meeting was attended by Vadim X. Zinakov, deputy chief engineer of AO MOSENERGO for electric equipment, Anatoly Svistunov, MCL director, Stepan Todirka, deputy MCL director, Yuri Savtsov, deputy MCL director for human resources, and Valery Baranov, chairman of the trade union committee.

According to MCL’s representatives, in 2001, total costs including repair costs amounted to 1.462 million rubles. In addition, the company spent 253 million rubles to modernize and upgrade the electric grids. Forty million rubles went to upgrade overloaded sub-transformers in Moscow. This problem emerged due to growing power consumption by the population in recent years.

This year total MCL’s costs are expected to reach 1.850 million rubles. The company plans to increase expenditures to upgrade and modernize electric grids. The amount of costs will directly depend on the amount of the new rates. According to Anatoly Svistunov, the costs under the current operations plan total 850 million rubles. At present the approved capital construction expenditures amount to 350 million rubles, including the upgrade of overloaded sub-transformers, which would cost 83 million rubles.

MCL undergoes continuous technical modernization. New MCL-built sub-transformers have a high degree of reliability. The company implements new and efficient technology for assembling cable lines. During the construction of grids aluminium-encapsulated cables are replaced with polyethylene-encapsulated ones which are more durable.

MCL is the biggest division of AO MOSENERGO by headcount. The company employs approximately 4,000 people. On this anniversary, 406 MCL’s employees received special awards from AO MOSENERGO, RAO UES and the Ministry of Energy. Another 114 people were awarded symbolical ranks of honorable workers of the fuel and energy complex, veterans of the utilities sector and honorable workers of the energy system.
