Under the AO Mosenergo's program for technical upgrade in 1996–2010, the company plans to enhance the 310 MWt unit at Novomichurinskaya GRES (AO Mosenergo's branch in the Ryazan region) with a GTE-110 gas turbine. As a result, the company's capacity is expected to increase to 420 MWt. The scheduled completion of the installation and commissioning of the new turbine is slated for the first half of 2004.
The chosen turbine type (GTE-110) is the most acceptable, given the technical parameters of the existing power unit and the auxiliary equipment at the electric power station. The contract to design and build the GTE-110 gas turbine will be likely awarded to NPO Saturn. Along with the installation of the new turbine at GRES-24, AO Mosenergo will put into operation a TZFG-110-2UZ generator, as well as a block transformer (TDTs-160000/500).
In addition to increasing the capacity of GRES-24, the installation of the new turbine will help cut fuel consumption in the process of electricity generation, increase the regulated capacity of the power unit and cost efficiency.
