MOSENERGO (TGC-3)

August 5, 2002

AO MOSENERGO summarized financial results for the first half of 2002

On July 26, the first deputy and chief engineer of AO MOSENERGO Igor Goryunov spoke at the conference of the AO MOSENERGO working team. He said that in the first half of the year the company ensured reliable power supply for consumers in the Moscow region. During January–June 2002, power consumption by the company’s own customers totaled 28 billion kWt·h, having increased against last year by 4.4%. The company’s power stations supplied 38 million Gcal of heat which is 6% less than last year. This is attributed to higher air temperatures. The operational capacity of AO MOSENEGO’s power stations including block stations exceeded the planned one and totaled 12,569 MWt.

In comparison with the first six months of 2001, power losses in AO MOSENERGO’s grids decreased by 8%. The company achieved this through fulfilling a complex of measures including the installation of electricity counters, cut in energy consumption for its own purposes by grid substations, reconstruction of grids, etc. In the first half of 2002, not a single emergency breakdown occurred at AO MOSENERGO’s substations. As compared to last year, the number of minor incidents decreased by 18.4%.

According to Goryunov, AO MOSENERGO creates fuel reserves for power stations in accordance with the plan. Preparing for the upcoming heating season, by early July all power stations have amassed required fuel reserves. To achieve this, the company actively worked to procure additional gas supplies from OOO Mosregiongas, purchased additional amounts of power at the federal wholesale electricity market (FOREM) and optimized the fuel consumption regime.

In the first half of 2002, receivables from AO MOSENEGO’s consumers decreased by 21%, given FOREM sales. Currently, the receivables total 6.7 billion rubles. The reduction came as a result of lowering debts of the military industry, Ministry of Defence, Moscow railways, municipal organizations and GUP Mosgorteplo.

In conclusion, Goryunov said that AO MOSENERGO’s main objective remains to ensure uninterrupted power supply for consumers; the company should focus all efforts to achieve this goal. All branches should strictly comply with the schedule for preparing the power system for the autumn-winter load peak, in accordance with plan objectives set for all main company’s activities.
