AO MOSENERGO is actively preparing for the next heating season (2003-2004). In July, AO MOSENERGO will put into operation two new 220 kV cable lines – TEZ-20 – Ochakovo and TEZ-20 – Yuzhnaya. These two new lines will be used to provide power to western and southern districts. They also will be a replacement for older and unreliable cables that have stayed underground for more than 40 years.

Three European companies tendered for the equipment for these lines based on technical specifications and cost. ABB and Nexans won the tender.

Two 4.1 km-long cable lines were re-built by using advanced equipment and technologies. Instead of oil insulation the new cable lines are insulated with vulcanized polyethylene, which is more reliable and complies with environmental requirements. New lines will help AO MOSENERGO to increase the reliability of its services.

In total, AO MOSNERGO has spent around 280 mln rubles to rebuild the two lines. In this project, AO MOSENERGO used only its own financial resources.
