Tomorrow, on 19 August, a working group of RAO "UES of Russia" headed by the Chairman of the Company's Management Board Anatoly Chubais flies to the Republic of Kyrgyzstan at the invitation of Kyrgyzstan's President Askar Akaev. Within the framework of the two-day visit, Anatoly Chubais will meet the President of Kyrgyzstan Askar Akaev, and hold talks with the Republic's Prime Minister Nikolay Tanaev. The parties are expected to sign a Memorandum on Joint Activities to prepare for the project to complete the construction of Kambaratinsk hydroelectric power plants, HPP-1 and HPP-2. Anatoly Chubais will also visit the construction sites of Kambaratinsk HPP-1 and HPP-3 and Toktogul HPP.
Completion of the construction of Kambaratinsk HPP-1 and HPP-2 is of great social and economic importance not only to Kyrgyzstan, but to the whole of Central Asia. The commissioning of these two hydroelectric power plants will help fully cover the electricity deficit in Kyrgyzstan, considerably increase electricity exports from the Republic, and enhance the reliability of the parallel operation of Central Asia's energy systems and the Unified Energy System of Russia.
