"Nizhnekamskneftekhim" INC summed up the results of the environmental management activities in 2008 pursuant to the long-term Ecological Program for 2007-2015.
Due to the impeccable implementation of the Ecological policy and strict adherence to the consumption rates for feedstock, utilities and materials in 2008, the Company reached noteworthy results in reducing the harmful environmental impact. In particular, raw water intake from the Kama-river for the Company needs reduced by 585 K m 3 compared to 2007; amount of water utilized for service-utility needs reduced by 163 K m 3 . Amount of wastes diverted to the Company biological treatment plants reduced by more than 4m m 3 . Meantime, physical increase in production constituted 6.4%, including rubber – 12.2%.
In 2008, harmful substance atmospheric emissions reduced by more than 12 kt against 2007 thanks to the one-stage isoprene process introduced, butyl rubber degas system retrofitted, flare blowdown utilized as fuel, process conditions minutely followed up and well-tight equipment.
Last year, enormous amount of work was implemented on the environmental installations: chemical waste settler and chemical-domestic waste blender overhauled, aeration system revamped, cooling towers upgrade continued.
Launching an automated environmental monitoring system signified an important ecological activity event. To date, 4 monitoring stations are functioning: in the sanitary-hygienic zone and along the industrial site perimeter of "Nizhnekamskneftekhim" INC.
In 2008, environmental implementations consumed RUR 341.7 m.
