October 21 2008, Moscow. Today, in Yerevan (Armenia) an official ceremony of launching a nation-wide wireless communication WiMAX network took place.

The network was opened by President of Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev and President of Republic of Armenia Serge Sarkisyan. The following persons took part in the ceremony: Chairman of the Board of Directors AFK “Sistema” Vladimir Yevtushenkov, President of COMSTAR-UTS Group of Companies Sergey Pridantsev, General Director of “Kornet-AM” company Boris Demirkhanyan.

In the course of the ceremony the Presidents of both states on a real-time basis were shown network capabilities, including pilot zone of mobile WiMAX in the city of Armavir. Also, with the use of WiMAX there was a session of video conference communication with a medical diagnostics center of Armenia carried out.
