Rostelecom(NYSE: ROS; RTS: RTKM, RTKMP), Russia's national long-distance telecommunications operator, today announced the appointment of Vadim Yakovlev as Deputy General Director - Technical Director of Rostelecom. Mr. Yakovlev previously held the position of Deputy Technical Director within the Company.

Rostelecom's General Director Dmitry Y. Yerokhin commented: «Rostelecom continues to develop its technological base, aimed at strengthening the Company's competitive position. I am sure that Vadim Yakovlev will successfully accomplish the new tasks he will face thanks to his extensive experience within the telecom sector and at Rostelecom».

Vadim Yakovlev has held the position of Deputy Technical Director of Rostelecom since April 2002. Since 1995 he has worked in various telecommunications companies, including PeterStar and Petersburg Transit Telecom. Vadim Yakovlev was born in St. Petersburg in 1968. In 1991 he graduated from Leningrad Higher Military Engineering College of Telecommunications with a degree in telecommunications.
