To prepare for the next heating season, AO MOSENERGO carries out maintenance and overhauls on electric equipment. As of today the Company overhauled more than 6,300 1-10 kV cable lines (97.5% of the nine-month plan). In addition, AO MOSENERGO has effectively finished preparing for winter high-voltage 110-500 kV lines. The Company checked and overhauled 757 transformer stations and distribution facilities.
In early August, AO MOSENERGO completed the upgrade and put into operation two high-voltage 220 kV lines at CHP-20 (Yuzhnaya) and CHP-20 (Ochakovo). New lines, which will be used to provide power to southern and western districts of Moscow, have replaced older worn-out cables operated since 1967.
AO MOSENERGO used in the upgrade of these two 4.2 km-long lines advanced equipment and technologies from ABB and Nexans. AO MOSENERGO has replaced the older and unsafe oil-containing lines with cables that are insulated with polyethylene. They have longer service lives and meet the latest environmental standards. The higher capacity of the new cable lines makes it possible to increase the reliability of power supply. Today AO MOSENERGO lays cables only with modern insulation.
The total length of cables with polyethylene insulation at AO MOSENERGO's grid amounts to 180 km (along the line). In total, AO MOSENERGO operates in Moscow 55,000 km of 1-10 kV cables and 2,000 high-voltage cables, as well as more than 15,000 transformer and distribution stations.
