New heating trunk will contribute to national project implementation

OJSC Volga Territorial Generation Company started the implementation of an investment project – construction of heating trunk No 8 from Saratov TPP-5. This construction project is the largest one in Saratov thermal power industry within recent years in terms of investments. The first joint will be solemnly welded on August 29.

The heating trunk no 8 will deliver heat to new housing complexes of Lenin and Kirov districts of the city, that are being constructed within the framework of the “Affordable Housing” national project. New houses of three housing complexes: 1A, 6 and “Avangard” will obtain heat and hot water. Capacity of new heating trunk will be enough to supply heat to about 150 riser blocks of flats of standard nine-storied buildings.

In addition, the new heating trunk will allow to supply heat to a number of consumers form TPP instead of the old outdated boiler houses.

«Commissioning of heating trunk No 8 will help to increase reliability of heat supply, - emphasized Vyacheslav Yankov, director of “Saratov Thermal Grids”, affiliate of Volga TGC. – In case of emergency the new trunk will allow to supply heat via stanby circuit and avoid heat supply stoppages».

* Length of Trunk 8 will come up to 3.6 km, pipes diameter – 1,2 m. The trunk will be parallel to trunk N1 from TPP-5 between the buildings in Topolchanskaya street and new housing complex No 6. the trunk will be made of pre-insulated pipes of new generation. Such pipes are covered with flexible foam insulation and zinc-plated iron during manufacturing. Pre-insulated pipes have significant advantages compared to regular ones: durability (insulation replacement is not required for 30 years) and very low heat losses (less than 2%).

Commissioning of Trunk 8 is scheduled for Q4 2008. It is anticipated that the project will help to increase electric power output from TP-5 by 100 million KWh and thermal power – by 450 K Gcal, as well as to reduce fuel consumption substantially.
