Throughout the first eight months of this year Surgutneftegas produced 35.373 million tons of oil, a 10% increase over the same period of 2002, when the Company produced 32.148 million tons of oil. There was an increase of 5% in gas production that hit the level of 9.149 billion cubic meters this year.

Metreage drilled totaled 2.58 million meters, a 5% increase; exploration drilling amounted to 161 thousand meters.

There were 627 new wells put on production against 613 wells in 2002.
