Moscow City Telephone

April 10, 2002

On April 10 2002, Open Joint-Stock Company "Moscow City Telephone Network" (OJSC MGTS) starts installing apartment telephones for the Nekrasovka community dwellers (Moscow Region)

The first apartment telephones will be installed and furnished to fifty (50) disabled veterans of the Great Patriotic War (World War Two) residing in the community. The appropriate documents, i.e. agreements to provided telephone services, will be handed over to the war veterans of the Nekrasovka community on 10 April 2002 in a solemn atmosphere at the subscriber shop floor of the Lyublinskiy Telephone Node, OJSC MGTS. The ceremony will proceed with Mr. A.P. Biryukov, head of the community Council, in attendance. In conformity with the Russian Federation Law "On the Veterans" (Article 14) all the telephones will be interconnected free of charge.

During the 2nd and 3rd quarters of 2002, the Lyublinskiy Telephone Node will satisfy all the telephone installation requests that were filed in before September 2001.

The construction of the small-capacity telephone exchange for the Nekrasovka community dwellers was effected under an OJSC MGTS' large-scale project designed to provide telephones to residential users at point-block buildings in the districts with developed infrastructures. A unique feature of the communications construction project in Nekrasovka consists in implementing a set of procedures meant to convert the old drugstore building there into a telephone exchange, which should be in a strict keeping with technical premises operational and safety requirements. In particular, the building was equipped with gas absorption, fire-extinguishing and environment protection facilities, etc. Besides, telephone line ducts were built across the Nekrasovka territory with the backbone and distribution network cables laid therethroughh, interconnecting residential and public sectors (schools, hospital, and policlinics), and the industrial enterprises.
