NLMK announces system-wide changes to corporate safety practices

In an effort to streamline business processes, NLMK Group has announced changes to its occupational health and safety management practices.
This restructuring will involve setting up a single management system covering all the Group’s sites and divisions. The system will be headed by Victor Togobetskiy, the newly appointed Director of Occupational Health and Safety.
Commenting on these changes, and on the new appointment, Oleg Bagrin, NLMK Group President, said:

“Ensuring the safety of each and every employee, as well as of production on the whole, remains our absolute strategic priority. Indeed, it will always remain a vitally important area for the Company. For this reason, we have taken the decision to assign control over health and safety practices to the highest level of management in the Group. Our objective is to prevent any incidents affecting people or the environment. Our approach is to rely on best available practices and to apply a zero-tolerance policy towards violations in safety procedures and the Company’s fundamental safety requirements.”

Victor Togobetskiy’s main objective will be to implement best global occupational health and safety practices. All NLMK Group companies are to work on improving their systems for forecasting, identifying, analysing and assessing the risks of industrial accidents, the reliability of their health and safety systems, and potential contingencies.

For reference:

Victor Togobetskiy managed occupational health, industrial, fire and environmental safety for leading international companies, including Alcoa, Philip Morris, Ford Motor Company, Nestlé, and PepsiCo. He has experience working in the steel industry in Alcoa, where he held the positions of EHS Director and Business System Director for the company’s Russian division. He served on the Alcoa and PepsiCo Global Safety Committees, representing European and Eurasian business units.

In 2001, he received the British Safety Council (London) International Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health, and in 2011 he got a Professional Certificate in Management from the LINK International Institute of Management.
