On August 20, approximately at 10:55, the power supply at Begovaya station of Taganskaya subway line was partly shut down. As a result, lights at the station went off and elevators stopped. Entry to the station was closed. The intervals between trains at that line increased. This accident caused considerable inconvenience for thousands of subway's passengers. The subway's press service promptly blamed this accident on AO MOSENERGO. However, the results of an investigation held by the subway's special commission show that AO MOSENERGO had nothing to do with power supply failure at Begovaya.
The commission found that the power failure took place due to numerous mistakes of dispatchers on Taganskaya line. Erroneous actions of dispatchers caused short circuits in feeding cables, which led to the power cut-off in elevator and lighting systems. The subsequent actions of the subway specialists—who were trying to restore the power in violation of instructions—just made the things worse. As a result, all power at the station was down except for contact grid and emergency lighting.
Investigation results show that accusations from the subway's press service were groundless and did not reflect the true picture.
AO MOSENERGO hopes that in the future subway employees will exercise more caution in their actions and assessments of AO MOSENERGO's efficiency.
Regretfully, municipal services are more and more often to blame for technical violations in handling AO MOSENERGO equipment. From the start of the year there were about 500 such accidents in the capital. Last year, the number of cable damages by other parties increased 20%, but traditionally, the blame is put on AO MOSENERGO.
