The amount of electricity generated by the power plants of TGC-1, including the Murmanskaya CHPP, totaled 7,495.5 million kWh in the 1st quarter 2015, 3.0 per cent down from the same period last year.
The key causes of the decline in electricity output in the 1st quarter 2015 were a general drop in electricity consumption, falling demand in electricity and capacity under regulated contracts and low water supply at the hydroelectric power plants of the Nevskiy and Karelskiy branches over the reporting period.
The electricity output by the combined heat and power plants decreased by 2.0 per cent to 4,799.7 million kWh; the hydroelectric power plants generated only 2,695.8 million kWh, 4.6 per cent down from the same period last year.

As part of TGC-1’s ongoing effort to redistribute the load to its newer more efficient facilities, the amount of electricity produced by the new generating unites grew by 13.5 per cent to 2,025.5 million kWh in the 1st quarter 2015 (which is equivalent to 27.0 per cent of TGC-1’s total output or 42.2 per cent of the total output from the CHPPs).
The specific fuel consumption for electricity generation dropped by 2.0 per cent to 251.6 g/kWh.
The capacity utilization for all of TGC-1’s electricity generating facilities stood at 48.7 per cent, which was 0.8 percentage points less than the previous year.
1Q 2015 electricity sales increased by 0.8 per cent, reaching 8,511.0 million kWh, due to rising electricity demand in the day-ahead market and export sales.
TGC-1’s 1Q 2015 heat output, including the Murmanskaya CHPP, was 9,101.7 thousand Gcal, 2.9 per cent down from the last year. This minor reduction in heat output was caused by higher air temperatures, wider use of metering units and a drop in demand from industrial consumers.
