On April 21, 2002, the maiden flight of the prototype gyroplane A-002 had taken place. The vehicle was taken to air by Vladimir Yevgen'evich Barsuk, the test pilot for the Siberian Research and Development Institute after S.A.Tchaplygin. Within the framework of flight testing, a number of flights was performed over the runway. The three-seater light gyroplane was developed and built by the proprietary design bureau of Irkutsk Aviation Industrial Association. The course of testing confirmed credibility of decisions incorporated earlier into the design. There was a complex of recorders installed on the gyroplane to see the flight parameters. Testing will continue after the reordered data was read.
