Reconstruction of primary electric power supply for Krasnaya Glinka settlement is underway at Samara Distribution Grids

Specialists of Samara Distribution Grids, a branch of IDGC of Volga, JSC (a subsidiary of Rosseti, JSC) are currently performing reconstruction activities at Krasnoglinskaya 110 kV substation located in Krasnoglinsky district of Samara. By upgrading this primary power source serving one of the largest districts of Samara, the company will be able to increase the power output from 71.5 MVA up to 126 MVA. This ensures greater reliability of the power supply for existing industrial, commercial and residential consumers, including Samara ORTPTs (the key TV- and radio-broadcasting provider in the Samara region), IKEA Shopping Center, Salyut Machine-Building Plant, Viktor and Co. MegaKompleks na Moskovskom Trade and Exhibition Center, and residential districts. In addition, by successfully completing this project, the company will have a technical opportunity to implement new technological connections, including Koshelev Proekt, a low-rise residential construction project with high-quality social infrastructure.
Modernization activities at the power facility are performed on the live equipment, ensuring a continuous power supply without compromising operational reliability and efficiency. Modernization activities at 110 kV Krasnoglinskaya substation are performed as part of the investment program of the branch for 2014 and are included in the Electric Power Sector Development Program of the Samara region. The operations completed by the date include disassembly of the overage equipment and steel structures, 110 kV outdoor switchgear and power transformers, construction of the new building that accommodates both the substation control station and indoor switchgear, assembly of 35 kV open switchgear and current limiting coils, equipment of 6 kV indoor switchgear, relay protection and emergency controls. The new administration and amenity building was built to accommodate the operations and maintenance staff of this power facility.
To ensure the timely completion of the reconstruction works at 110 kV outdoor switchgear, specialist of the branch designed additional redundant power supply switchover circuits for critical power consumers that provide an adequate degree of reliability. Other activities completed at this stage include installation of foundations and oil drain systems for two new transformers with the output of 63 MVA each, rigging of transformers and installation of transformers on the foundations. Upon completion of tests, new transformers were put into operation. Besides, specialists disassembled and removed the old fencing of the substation and installed the state-of-the-art perimeter protection and intrusion detection systems, as well as fire protection and video surveillance equipment. The modernization project is scheduled to be completed in 2014.
“Krasnoglinskaya 110 kV substation, which has been in operation since 1943, remains a single source of electricity for consumers in the Krasnoglinsky district of Samara. However, the substation is not able to meet the ever-increasing demand for electric power. Krasnoglinskaya substation serves a number of large consumers including IKEA Shopping Center, MegaKompleks na Moskovskom Trade and Exhibition Center, the asphalt and concrete factory, Saratov Ball-Bearing Plant (Moskovskoe shosse, 18th km), Novaya Samara new residential construction projects (Moskovskoe shosse, 23rd km). Besides, the substation serves the reconstructed part of the Ural federal road traffic route located at the point of entrance to Samara urban district. To create conditions for unconstrained connection of new consumers as dictated by the social and economic development of the district, we launched the reconstruction project at 110 kV Krasnoglinskaya 110 kV substation, with complete replacement of all obsolete equipment. Accident-free operation of this power facility is a key to reliable electricity supply for industrial and residential consumers in one of the largest districts of Samara,” comments Konstantin Sanayev, Deputy Director General of IDGC of Volga, JSC and Director of Samara Distribution Grids.
