From April 14 to April 16, the company Huawei Technologies held a series of seminars and presentations for specialists of Uralsvyazinform in the building of the Permterritorial communications center. Uralsvyazinform and Huawei have a long history of partnership relations: back in December 2000, a number of digital exchanges manufactured by Huawei (total capacity of around 12,000 lines) were entered into service in the city Kudymkar and the villages of Zvyozdniy and Noviye Liady. Since then, the companies have successfully implemented several joint projects, including:
- construction of mobile communications GSM-networks with GPRS-support in the Permregion and the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous District;
- assembly of digital exchanges and optical access networks in the Ekaterinburg, Kurgan, Permregions and the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous District;
- utilization of SDH multiplexers.
During the seminars, reports were made on the following subjects:
Prospects of constructing next-generation networks (NGN);
Solutions for constructing integrated cable television networks;
Solutions for constructing digital over-the-air television and videoconferencing systems;
Presentation of the technical support center of Huawei’s Ural office.
By the admission of Huawei’s specialists, Uralsvyazinform, as the largest fixed and mobile communications operator in the greater Ural region, has a developed infrastructure well-suited for quick toll-out of next-generation networks (NGN) using U-SYS equipment provided by Huawei. This equipment enables integrated exchange replacement solutions on transit and local level (class 4 and 5) based on NGN technologies. The solution has been under development by specialists from both companies for over a year now, and is presently nearing practical implementation.
Participants of the seminars noted the cutting-edge and advanced solutions offered by Huawei, which could take the partnership between Uralsvyazinform and Huawei Technologies to a new plateau.
