Mordashov took part not only in the anniversary committee meeting but participated in a number of business negotiations, including one with Axel Gerlach, secretary of the German Ministry of Economy and Technology. During negotiations parties touched upon Severstal working together with German companies.
Additionally, Alexei Mordashov took part in the discussion of further ways of transforming Eastern European countries. In the course of the discussion, its participants touched upon the issues of political stability, building of the civil society, current economic situation and implications for Eastern European countries' entry into the European Union and the World Trade Organization.
The committee was originally created for German companies working with Eastern European countries. Recently, its main activity was concentrated on economic cooperation with Russia. The Eastern Committee on German Economy plays a major role in economic cooperation of Russia with Germany. It's noteworthy, that Vladimir Putin, Russia's President, sent a greeting address to the committee.
