Ulyanovsk Distribution Grids, a branch of IDGC of Volga, JSC (a member of Rosseti Group of Companies), launch a campaign for reconstruction and technical upgrading of relay protection and automation devices (RPAD). Power specialists replaced protection devices of transformer bushing cells with the new protection devices based on RS83-A2 microprocessor terminals at Tsilna, Lnokombinat, Beregovaya and Mirnaya substations. As compared to the obsolete electric protection solutions, the state-of-the-art user-friendly protection devices with built-in oscillograph and accident log provide the advance functional features and enable continuous measurement of normal duty parameters. The RPAD reconstruction campaign also covered the Tsentralnaya substation. Power specialists installed new ShE2607 032 main protection cabinets and standby protection, automation and ShE2607 011021 switch control cabinets (domestic brands) at 110 kV Ts-1 and Ts-2 power lines. The Yazykovo substation was equipped with the accident recording system based upon NEVA software technical complex. The system enables recording and saving of all operational parameters of the equipment in case of any accident occurred at the substation. Oscillograph records are used to evaluate operation of the equipment. Upgraded relay protection and automation devices and new functional features will enable quick response to any power system disturbances and mitigation of accident propagation risks. These measures also contribute to lower financial effects of equipment damage and to longer service life of power equipment.
