“KAMAZ – Master” team has won the 6th lap of the World Cup of off-road rally-raids “Rally Orient – Kappadokia 2003”.

On the 16th of August, 167 km 200 meters of high speed section, the last of the ‘Rally Orient – Kappadokia 2003”, brought the sport caravan out to the festive podium. Among the trucks, the crew of KAMAZ, consisting of pilot Vladimir Chaghin, navigator Sergei Savostin and mechanic Jamil Kamalov, came up on the highest position of the podium. The second position was occupied also by KAMAZ crew, piloting by Ilghizar Mardeev. The navigator Aidar Belyaev and the mechanic Andrei Mokeev assisted him. The French crew on MANN truck– the pilot Philippe Jacquot, navigator Erique Simonie, mechanic Diminiq Richard – was the third. It has lost more than 2 hours 40 minutes to Chaghin.

Another full success of KamAZ trucks, together with the triumph in super marathon “Telephonica – Dakar 2003” in January, made “KAMAZ – Master” team the leader of World Cup of Off -Road Rally- Raids of this year.

“ We all are very tired, but extremely happy, - said Vladimir Chaghin at the finish, - than we justified hopes of auto fans in our country one more time, that the national flags of Tatarstan and Russia decorate the holiday podium of another lap of the World Cup. It didn’t let us down during all 5 days of rally.’

The mechanics of the emergency service vehicle made an outstanding contribution to this victory. After each lap they provided the whole necessary complex of preventive measures and repairing of the sport trucks. Professional training and skills of Nail Bagavetdinov, Ildar Shaisultanov and Gennady Ivanov has shown the immaculate work of the back service of the team.

The 6th round of the world automobile championship “Rally Orient – Kappadokia 2003” took place in Turkey. It consisted of 6 laps with the total extension more than 3000 km, 16000 of which were the high speed test areas. Their routes ran in the central part of the country – in Kappadokia, which is famous for its unique colouring of the local landscape. Huge mass of rocks, splitted by the net of canyons and river cannels, the laces of mountain passes, surrounded by thick flora, endless plains, volcanoes , salt lakes – that was the road menu for the participants of the rally, traditional for this area.

This time the best crews of European teams “LUR’O’DAKAR”, “S.P. WALCHER”, “HNC”, that have appeared on “MANN 2835”, SCAM SMT”, “RENULT KEREX”, competed with KAMAZ trucks. And when the sportsmen from KAMAZ could not only save both trucks in fight, but also to be the first at finish, their rivals were forced to “hobble” their exhausted iron horses at the last laps of the race. Their trucks couldn’t stand neither the temp, offered by the KamAZ mustangs, nor the endless road overloads, and so, they have lost all margin of safety on the to finish. Just the French crew of Philippe Jacquot on MANN could bear the sport battle and drive out to the last point of “Rally Orient”.
