Gazprom brings onstream gas pipeline in Irkutsk Oblast

The city of Bratsk, Irkutsk Oblast, hosted today celebrations dedicated to bringing onstream an inter-settlement gas pipeline from the Osinovka gas distribution station (GDS) to the settlement of Gidrostroitel, Bratsk.

The event was attended by Dmitry Mezentsev, Governor of the Irkutsk Oblast, Alexander Ananenkov, Deputy Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee, Oleg Aksyutin and Viktor Ilyushin, Members of the Company’s Management Committee, heads and representatives from the regional municipalities, Mezhregiongaz, Gazprom transgaz Tomsk, Gazprom dobycha Irkutsk and other entities.

“Gazprom has taken another step in developing gas supply to and gasification of Eastern Siberia’s regions. An increasing number of the Irkutsk Oblast citizens enjoy the benefits of natural gas, an environmentally friendly natural resource. This year we have completed two inter-settlement gas pipelines and launched gas supplies to the settlements of Zyaba and Gidrostroitel.

Natural gas is required for economic advancement, better ecological situation and living conditions improvement, therefore, Gazprom will diligently perform the large-scale federal task on bringing natural gas to the Siberian and Far Eastern regions,” stated Alexander Ananenkov.

Background:

In December 2007 the first phase of the Bratsk gas and condensate field (GCF) – Bratsk (45th residential district) gas trunkline was constructed and natural gas deliveries to the city commenced. Bratsk was the first population center of the Irkutsk Oblast to receive pipeline gas. The total length of the first-phase section is 26.6 kilometers. Upon construction of the Bratsk GCF – Bratsk gas trunkline, its total length will amount to nearly 70 kilometers.

In November Gazprom launched natural gas supplies to the settlement of Zyaba, Bratsk District, Irkutsk Oblast. The settlement of Zyaba was the Oblast’s second population center to receive pipeline gas, which is delivered to the new gas-fired boiler house via the Bratsk GCF – Bratsk gas trunkline.

The total length of the Osinovka GDS – Gidrostroitel (Bratsk) inter-settlement pipeline accounts for 9.2 kilometers.
