A working meeting between Alexey Miller, Gazprom’s Management Committee Chairman, and Peter Piotuch, Beltransgaz’s director general, was held today at Gazprom’s headquarters.
The parties discussed the terms of Russian gas deliveries to Belarus as well as gas transit via the Republic in 2004.
“The period of romanticism has come to an end. Our Belarusian colleagues have finally made more realistic proposals as far as the gas supply terms. However, despite certain progress achieved during the negotiations, we haven’t come to a mutually acceptable agreement yet. We’ll resume negotiations tomorrow,”- A. Miller said at the end of the meeting.

In 2003 Gazprom fully fulfilled its contractual obligations on gas deliveries to Belarus at prices applicable for Russia’s 5th price zone (RR 912 for 1000 cubic meters), having supplied 10.2 bcm of gas to the Republic.
Since January 1, 2004, Gazprom has stopped delivering gas to Belarusian consumers. The Republic has been receiving gas from independent suppliers. In January, gas deliveries to Belarus are expected to amount to some 2 bcm.
