Another CCGT unit commissioned at CHP-27

A solemn ceremony dedicated to a new CCGT unit #4 PGU-450T commissioning took place today at the Mosenergo CHP-27.

Participating in the event were Gazprom’s Delegation led by Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Company’s Management Committee, representatives of the Russian Federation Industry and Energy Ministry, the Moscow Government, as well as top managers of Mosenergo.

“The launch of a new CCGT unit is another example of Gazprom’s commitment to the assumed investment obligations under the conditions of the global economic downturn – related to its own business development and to the projects implemented in the companies with Gazprom’s major shareholding.

Besides expanding Mosenergo’s production capacity and ensuring the synergy of Gazprom’s gas and energy projects, this project is positively aimed at maintaining a reliable functioning of the national energy system and an uninterrupted supply of power and heat energy to consumers,” said Alexey Miller.

Background:

The Gazprom Energy Strategy was adopted by the Company’s Board of Directors on April 25, 2007. During the Strategy implementation Gazprom Group established control over Mosenergo (53.47 per cent), TGK-1 (46.4 per cent),

OGK-2 (56.6 per cent) and OGK-6 (60 per cent). The aggregate capacity of the energy assets controlled by Gazprom Group equals more than 35,000 MW.

The commissioning and operation of the CCGT unit #4 at CHP-27 is another stage in the Mosenergo investment program being implemented by the Company. So far, this is the third large generating facility taken into operation as part of the Program.

The electric capacity of the CCGT unit accounts for 450 MW, heat capacity – 300 Gcal/h. The unit utilizes a combined power generation cycle. This technology considerably improves the working and operational performance of the generating unit versus units operating based on the conventional steam-power cycle. In particular, efficiency increases from 38 to 51 per cent, fuel consumption declines 30 per cent and pollutant atmospheric emissions reduce threefold.
