Delegation of the Israel police officers headed by the Chief of the Israel Boundary service visited BALTIKA on September 23d, on the eve of the shipment. During excursion visitors have examined the technology of the production of the beer, which in the nearest future will be sent to Israel.
Russian BALTIKA Brewery and the Israel Brewing Company (IBB Ltd) have concluded an exclusive long-term agreement on the sale of BALTIKA beer in Israel. Now BALTIKA beer will be sold through the major trade chains.
The conclusion of the contract became possible largely due to the certification of conformity with Kashruth accorded to BALTIKA beer by the Israeli rabbinate after successfully passing through the approval process early in 2003. All BALTIKA beer exported to Israel will bear the ‘Kosher’ symbol.
By receiving the designation ‘Kosher’, BALTIKA beer is now able to redirect its sales activities in Israel beyond the narrow confines of the Russian speaking emigrant niche market to the broader population of Israeli consumers.
The 10 varieties of the BALTIKA brand will be exported to Israel. In the near term the product will be delivered in glass bottles. Longer range plans call for sale of BALTIKA in cans.
Sales volumes of 200,000 dekaliters per year are planned. Last year 130,000 dekaliters of beer were sold in Israel and during the first 9 months of 2003 the sales figures stand at 77,000 dekaliters. The most popular varieties of BALTIKA sold in Israel are ‘Baltika No.3. Classic’ and ‘Baltika No.9. Strong’.
