Russian Grids begins constructing substation to supply electricity to the Titanium Valley special economic area in Ural

Russian Grids has begun construction of the Titan 110/10 kV substation which will become the key source of energy for the future industrial facilities in the Titanium Valley special economic area.

The Titanium Valley is a special industrial-type economic area currently being constructed in the Sverdlovsk region whose priority sectors will include aerospace, products made from titanium, machine-building for any sector (manufacturing process equipment and components) and construction materials.

Energy workers from a Russian Grids’ subsidiary, the Ural IDGC, have presently finished preparing the substation’s construction site for mounting the facility’s equipment.

Specialists have already installed two transformer substations with the capacity of 250 and 400 kVA. These facilities will provide electricity during the construction of the new main substation as well as the various facilities of Titanium Valley residents.

The Titan substation will be fitted with two power transformers with a capacity of 10 MVA each, an outdoor switchgear of 110 kV and an indoor switchgear of 10 kV. The project also provides for the possibility of increasing output up to 40 MVA. The facility will also be equipped with advanced and innovative equipment produced by leading national and international manufacturers.

The Titan 110/10 kV substation is scheduled to be completed in December of 2014. The project cost around 200 million roubles to implement.
