Russian Grids announces the Tender of Innovative Projects and Developments “Energy Breakthrough 2014”

Russian Grids has announced the start of the National Tender of Innovative Projects and Developments in Smart Energy Energy Breakthrough 2014 at a press conference held on June 10 which was attended by the Russian Grids First Deputy General Director for Technical Policy Roman Berdnikov.

The tender is organised by Russian Grids JSC in partnership with the Skolkovo Foundation’s Energy-Efficient Technologies Cluster, Moscow United Electric Grid Company JSC and the Research and Development Centre at the Federal Grid Company of the Unified Energy System.

“Innovative development within the power grid complex is more pertinent now than ever, which is why we intend to attract the collective innovative community to assist us in finding innovative solutions to industry issues. Today we announce the launch of the Energy Breakthrough 2014 Tender of Innovative Developments, whose topic will be Smart Asset Management. Our goal is to find and give life to truly cutting-edge projects which are aimed at creating the energy of tomorrow in Russia – the Russian version of the smart grid 2.0,” First Deputy General Director of Russian Grids JSC Roman Berdnikov stated at a press conference.

The competition is open to creative innovative teams consisting of young research specialists, research fellows, PhD students, students, employees at small innovative companies and youth innovative centres, as well as individual participants – young researchers and specialists. Apart from those working in the energy sector, the tender is also open to researchers from other fields such as software developers, physicists, mathematicians, biologists, economists and sociologists.

Participation in Energy Breakthrough 2014 will allow young researchers and specialists to implement their projects with the support of Russian Grids and other tender organisers, to be automatically shortlisted for the competitive selection of projects for the Skolkovo Foundation’s Energy-Efficient Technologies Cluster, to include your team into present and future projects in the sphere of smart energy and to present your project at specialised platforms before potential investors and institutes. Applicants need to register and submit their application before August 30 online at www.gridology.ru.

Winners will be announced on October 17 at the RuGrid 2014 Forum by the Tender Commission, which includes representatives and experts from Russian Grids JSC, Skolkovo Foundation, Moscow United Electric Grid Company JSC, Research and Development Centre at the Federal Grid Company of the Unified Energy System, Institute of Control Sciences V. A. Trapeznikov Academy of Sciences, MIT and other organisations. Projects selected by the Tender Commission are automatically shortlisted for the competitive selection of projects for the Skolkovo Foundation’s Energy-Efficient Technologies Cluster, which will select its winners in December of 2014.
