The scope of the repair program 2014 launched by Ulyanovsk Distribution Grids, a branch of IDGC of Volga, JSC includes the repair of a section of 110 kV Ulyanovsk-Mayna high-voltage power line of 4 km long from Vyry substation to Mayna substation. The company also plans to replace insulators on concrete supports with modern insulators made from tempered glass. New insulators weigh less and are highly shock-resistant. Moreover, glass insulators facilitate search of damage on the line and damaged insulator in strings in case of destruction and, thus, help give up time consuming preventive measurements on overhead power lines. Vyry-Mayna substation section was built in the 1970's. The new insulation will enhance power supply reliability for the Staromaynsky District with a population of 7,000 people. Also, the scheduled capital repairs of 110 kV high-voltage power lines on Staraya Kulatka, Radishchevo, PWT Factory, Terenga substations will begin shortly. This year Ulyanovsk power engineers will repair four 110 kV substations and five 35/10 kV power facilities, including insulator replacement, in total.
