On May 23 at TEZ-26, AO MOSENERGO and NPO Unikhimtek held a seminar on the “Implementation of Seal Materials and New Projects of NPO Unikhimtek.” This was the second time the event was held in the last two years. Dmitri Barshak and Vladimir Vileiko (respectively, deputy chief engineer of heating operations for AO MOSENERGO and deputy director for production for NPO Unikhimtek) attended the meeting. Heads of boiler and turbine divisions of AO MOSENERGO, specialists engaged in seal installations and other employees from the company, service center and marketing division of the scientific and production association were also in attendance. More than 70 professionals and experts participated in the meeting.
From early 90’s AO MOSENERGO has been a founder, partner and main customer of NPO Unikhimtek. For a number of years the technical innovations (produced in co-operation with scientists from the Moscow Lomonosov State University) were actively implemented and used at electric, heating and AO MOSENERGO and RAO UES repair stations. Such innovations include graphite seals (GRAFLEX) used in tie-ups, pumps and flanges. They are used to replace asbestos details. In comparison with asbestos, graphite has a number of technical advantages including higher resilience and elasticity. This increases the reliability of seals used in the power equipment, reduces the duration of repairs and increases the service life. New seals help to save power and raw materials and completely conform to international environmental standards.
During the May 23rd seminar, participants delivered reports sharing experiences in using graphite seals at AO MOSENERGO power facilities. They also discussed new projects in this area, ways of promoting co-operation with NPO Unikhimtek and expanding the product mix in accordance with the existing needs.
New tools, mechanisms and services from NPO Unikhimtek were presented at the seminar. Unikhimtek also demonstrated new sets of tools used to install seals in pumps, and a mechanism for carving seals from reinforced flat graphite. This mechanism can be used to cut seals of a required form directly at the power station. In addition the company presented packages that can be used to ensure safe transportation of equipment.
In the future, AO MOSENERGO and NPO Unikhimtek are to actively develop the co-operation and continue the joint seminars and meetings.
