Dealers from Karelia to Urals, as well as from Byelorussia, Kazakhstan and Kirghiziya attended the workshop at UAZ in Uliyanovsk. They studied UAZ's production plans for 2002, and technical and consumer characteristics of UAZ 315195 and pick-ups UAZ 2360 and UAZ 23632 - soon to be mass produced.
UAZ quality department's experts reported on the progress of the quality improvement program, let the dealers voice their concerns and claims. UAZ dealers were familiarized with the financial methods of stimulating demand, which were developed by Severstal-Auto experts, as well as with the recommendations for advertising and exhibition activities, and with UAZ marketing department's performance in the regions and their future plans.
The workshop participants were presented with UAZ' new sales and marketing policy for 2002. In its essence, the policy will involve promoting the finished product, which besides the vehicle itself, incorporates service before and after the purchase. Because of the new policy UAZ will now sign contracts only with those companies which are able to provide the service, which is required, and with the dealers who have outsourced such service. From June 2002, UAZ dealers will no longer be limited to using double-decker railroad platforms as UAZ estimated the cost of other forms of transportation for various regions. This will allow dealers to not only increase the product range in their respective region but also cut expenses caused by illegitimate means of railroad transportation.
The workshop participants were familiarized with their performance in 2001 and the 1st quarter of 2002, as well as with the performance of the warehouse in Ekaterinburg, which boosted sales in the region.
Two more workshops for UAZ dealers are yet to come in Ekaterinburg and Novosibirsk in the last days of May. In the future such workshops will be held quarterly.
