Ulyanovsk distribution grids took part un the Vth Volga region ecological week

On the threshold of the World Environment Day and All-Russian Day of Ecologist the V Volga Region Ecological Week was held in Ulyanovsk. Representatives of industrial enterprises of the city and the region, scientists, and representatives of the public authorities took part in the event. Ulyanovsk Distribution Grids, a branch of IDGC of Volga, JSC (a member of Rosseti Group), was represented by Lyubov Kudashova, Leading Engineer for Environment Protection, at the Ecoweek. Participants of the forum discussed issues concerning formation of ecological culture, problems and prospects of professional environmental education, and improvement of eco-efficiency of industrial companies, facilities of fuel-and-power, housing and public utilities. Production activity of Ulyanovsk Distribution Grids is performed in strict compliance with the requirements of federal and regional laws in the field of environment protection. Thus, at all 23 production sites waste generation norms and limits on its disposal are complied with. Monitoring of soil and air in the sanitary protection zone is performed using resources of specialized companies. Great importance is attached to improvement of reliable operation of power facilities, reduction of risks of technological failures, and, as a result, adverse effect on environment. Oil receivers of transformers and oil-filled equipment are repaired, conventional wires are replaced with self-supporting insulated conductors, and oil switches are replaced with eco-friendly SF6 switches containing safe chemical compound having no destroying effect on ozone layer of the Earth. "Although specific character of activities of the distribution grid companies does not involve significant effect on environment that could cause irreparable harm to ecological system of the region, Ulyanovsk Distribution Grids always bear responsibility for their obligations in the field of environment protection," notes Nikolay Kolesnikov, Deputy Chief Engineer for Technical Development and Operation, Ulyanovsk Distribution Grids branch, IDGC of Volga, JSC.
