Ulyanovsk Distribution Grids, a branch of IDGC of Volga, JSC (a member of Rosseti Group of Companies), sums up its work of clearing and widening power transmission lines fire-breaks from trees and bushes. The company performed clearance, cutting and disposal of trees and bushes in the areas of power transmission lines in order to avoid emergences. The works have been performed within the annual repair program 2014. In 2014, it is planned to clear 587 ha in total. The 6-month work resulted in the clearing of about 300 ha from trees and bushes. This exceeds 50% of the planned amount. Ulyanovsk power engineers have used both manual and mechanical way of clearing with the help of mulch-laying equipment. Mulching is the most innovative way of clearing territories from bush growth. Its key advantages are advanced efficiency, economy and environmental safety. Subject to the schedule, the works will continue until the year end.
