SUN Interbrew receives IAA Innovations Advertising Award

MOSCOW, 7 October 2003 - The Russian branch of the International Advertising Association, at its annual ceremony that took place yesterday, awarded brewing company SUN Interbrew with the IAA Innovations Advertising Award.

According to Boris Yeryomin, President of the IAA Russian branch, SUN Interbrew was given this award “for its innovative approach to promotion of its leading brands and its active involvement and contribution into development of the advertising market in Russia”.

Recognition by the leading Russian advertising organization is a great success of SUN Interbrew. In the past, experts and public at large made negative remarks about company’s advertising campaigns. The company’s management made necessary changes into the advertising strategy, and now many consumers admire TV commercials of such brands as Klinskoye Redkoe and Samurai, Staropramen, Sibirskaya Korona Beloye. The new advertising has also become a key to the company’s recent achievements. In many cases thanks to the new advertising worked out by the company in close cooperation with advertising agencies, the company succeeded to considerably increase sales of its products, and its share of the Russian beer market grew from 12.5% at the end of 2002 to 15.2% in the second quarter of 2003.

Joseph W. Strella, Chief Executive Officer of SUN Interbrew, has noted that in February of 2003 SUN Interbrew introduced its own Code of Communication and Marketing Standards which puts restrictions on beer advertising. In his opinion, “only voluntary measures by responsible producers and representatives of the advertising industry aimed at regulating advertising activities can contribute to establishing an efficient and civilized advertising market on the territory of Russia and other CIS countries”.
