In 2002, Severstal-Emal, a subsidiary of Severstal, increased sales by 1.5 million rubles a month. This was possible due to the successful launch of many new products, including new enamelware and dishware with non-stick coating. In 4 months, Severstal-Emal shipped 45,500 items with Teflon coating to domestic and foreign clients, which approximates the sales figure for this product for the entire 2001. The company was able to boost sales due to production of new dishware with Akzo Nobel (Italy) non-stick coating that was mastered last year. This new coating is made out of quality materials with up-to-date technology, which increases the service life of the product. The dishware with the new coating carries a year long warranty. In 2002, Severstal-Emal conducted negotiations with Dupon (France) - a renown international producer of non-stick coating. If Severstal-Emal receives the certificate of quality from Dupon in June, then it will be able to increase sales of dishware with non-stick coating up to 360,000 items in 2002. The product line will also be expanded to include not only frying pans but boiling pans with non-stick coating and heat resistant handles. In the fourth quarter of 2002, Severstal-Emal will continue to expand its product range and start production of pan cake frying pans, braziers and grilling pans. In May 2002, Severstal-Emal showed its new products at exhibits in Moscow and St. Petersburg. The new products include sets of boiling pans with new attractive designs. In June, Severstal-Emal is also expected to begin production of tea-pots of improved shape and original design with heat resistant handles and safe whistles.
